Its allegedly back

But because we mined all the pics we could...and no longer linked to bucket...and they didn't come over (not all could be sourced)... they are dead

Dennis did threaten to do a new thread when he does the next car ... not sure when that will be

just checking you saw andrew response in "rut's thread

Whenever I've done them I try to cut away as much material as the flare will cover, especially at the front lower corner where the flare meets the spoiler...

With the firewall, it depends how radical you want (or need) to go, most people just hammer the flange flat so the tyre may still hit but doesn't get cut.

I went searching back through Heath's thread for the 'proper' way to do it but a lot of his earlier photos are gone so not much help any more.

I cut more out of the pillar floor area than in the above pic and wish I'd taken a little more.

does your flare kit come with holes back there for ?reinforcement screws, or something?  mine didn't.

anyways, flare will be secure enough without

plus.. less room for dirt/gunk to catch and rot in/inbetween! which is gooood

You should not need to take that much out unless your going for an 18 inch or bigger wheel, you need some of that inner edge to put self tappers through to hold the flare in place. I have 9.5 inch wide wheels on the front with a 5.5 back space and a 245 x 17 inch tyre. No touching issues. The fire wall mod is a must, and a decent flare that does not curve in at the base is needed.

something i wish had known before mounting flares...

or

had waited till had bought tyres/tested wheel size.

anyways, whether it was just MY flare kit, or too large tyres, OR flare kit had warped??sucked in on itself after years of being unmounted..

i wish i had done this

IMAG2199b_1.jpg

and not saying push towards rear AND front.. enough to warp flare

..but just a cm either end. will be glad you did.
