Just a bit of a wrap up.

Jason GTR 469, Chris Thomas and myself headed up to Warwick, It was fu#$#$King cold with a minus 6 one night. Chris with the LJ, me with the LH and Jason with the custom air GP C gemini.

it was a great weekend racing and a top track to run, Chris took out some handy trophies x 2 with some hard racing with the heffernans and shannon phillips and it looked like a 4 car freight train of LJ toranas with really hard and fast racing clearly leaving the other competitors in the wake. It was the best racing of the weekend

I ran the LH in the  super sprints with the sports sedans and invited cars running in the over 2 ltr class and took out third place for the weekend. Very surprised with this outcome, but have a trophy to say I won !!!

If you get a chance on the bucket list then Morgan park Historic meeting is a must. They also ran regularity for the non classified race cars and this was also good with few other toranas from NSW running up there.

The highlight of the weekend was " coming up under  the bridge, dodging the 300m  oil slick, getting shown the kangaroo flag with the 5 o'clock sun in my eyes, dodging the kangaroo on the circuit whilst keeping the boot into the throttle  "

I recon Chris will have some great footage of the racing.

G

What an awesome weekend it was up in QLD, it was bloody freezing cold up there. As Grant said -6 in the mornings till about 9am. I struggled to get comfortable in the car all weekend, I didn't ran my usual set up with my diff which led me to have an under steer problem over the weekend. Anyway I'll fix that before I go next time, qualified as best as I thought I could which resulted in qualifying 6th on the grid.
Race 1) Bad start shuffled back a few spots, recovered to finish 4th
Race 2) Good start and led the race for a few laps, managed to finish 2nd after a great race with Ashley Heffernan, Simon Phillips and Peter Baugely
Race 3) Good start again led the race until my tyres went all gooey from having to slide the car again, finished 3rd
Race 4) Good start again, chased Ashley hard until my tyres went gooey. Great race and good company.

Will post some videos soon. Will put some unedited videos up

It was a great weekend of racing. Cold but nice in the sun :D

Group Nc was great to watch with the battle of the LJ's.

Chris, was great watching your races and I bet it was even better being involved in some very competitive but clean racing.

well done on taking it to the locals.

Well done on 3rd Grant, I take it you will be back.

What is the go with the passenger seat. You trying to weight save by not having all the bolt in place?

Great weekend once again put on by HRCC qld and Warwick District Sports Car Club.  Group Nc big bangers was good racing indeed,  and 1.27s

is very good going= not to be underestimated)  ( i think low 1.27 is current Nc record -2017 resurfacing helped with times) As always a very good contigent of NSW racers who appreciate the meet and the track and who once again were very competitive. Although there were a few incidents causing panel damage on the whole a lot less damage than say the 2016 Phillip Island  Historic .

Mind you not having near 60 in a race must make it a bit easier to negotiate turn one and two.

I was out in the Group Nb Mini , one of 17 little fellows in a field of 41 ( under 2 litres Na,Nb,Nc), Had a ball and just happy that the new motor came through the weekend with flying colours. I hit a 1.32 high , which is good for me but the fast minis were doing 1.29- 1.31s .   As said above, there was an oil slick that you couldn't avoid - you had to cross it either at turn three or down into gumtree..... It caused me to spin the second time through.... well that and the idiot driver ( me ) who was peeved at being passed under yellow.

One of the 'local holden nuts' and all round good guy and event sponsor was ringing everybody and anyone who had parts to try and get as many as possible Holdens in the Holden only race. ( plug Steve Jeffs - really going out of the way to ensure everyone had a chance to participate.  I think that would have been good for a handicap format like they do in Group A and C, where the Humpies get chased down by the pack

Put it on the calendar for 2019 it is a good fun event

Race 3) https://youtu.be/hXmooFH9FmA
Race 4) https://youtu.be/BpquwRip3kA

As mentioned above it was a tight competitive field with the local boys, I ended up doing a 1:27:3 which was under the old lap record which is not bad for my first time there. However one of the regulars Ashley Heffernan got down to a 1:26:9 which is the new lap record for group n. Next time I go I'll be putting my LSD in instead of a spool diff, as you can notice in the videos I can battle with them for the first 4-5 laps but then really struggle for front end turn. I have to wait a lot longer to pick up the throttle in the latter part of the race. All good, gives me something to aim for next time I'm there. Great racetrack with a nice a friendly atmosphere throughout. Plus you get really nice warm weather in the mornings. NOT !!!
