Hi All

Not a Torana but I was hoping someone could help.

My son in law had a stereo fitted to his Mitsi Challenger and all is fine until he turns on the parking lights. The radio then looses power and turns off. switch the lights off and the radio turns back on again.

Any Ideas  ???

Thanks in advance

The orange wire is connected to the lighting circuit to dim the stereo display when the lights are turned on. Try disconnecting that.

The clown that wired the radio used the park/dash light feed as  an earth!.  Disconnect wherever the black wire from the radio is joined to (i'm guessing it's going to a black/yellow wire now),  and run the black(ground) from the radio to a metal ground is the easiest way.

Ahhh can't edit!.  But i'd also be making sure  the power feeds he used are actual battery and accessory feeds.... not a dashlight backfeed. If i recall correctly, the mitsu's have a positive dashlight feed at the stereo and a dimmer feed. Grab a test light and check whilst also switching lights on.  Not a multimeter, as the load will show on a testlight and might not on the meter.
