Hi guys, have had a clunk in the diff and appeared to have a lot of backlash, but today she went clunk and wheel shuddered while it was making noise, disconnected tailshaft and you can move the yoke nearly half a turn back and forward, nut appears to be tight, what am I looking at here? Are all banjo diff centres the same? Out of hq-Hz same as Torana ? Cheers

It’s time to pull the centre out and see what’s broken.

The only way you could get half-a-turn of backlash is with a whole heap of teeth missing!

There are fine spline and course spline banjo centres, but so long as the axles match the centre they are all basically interchangeable. You may have to get a couple of longer (or shorter) bolts depending on which case you had / are fitting though.

Sounds like the pin holding the spider gears is loose and is getting it's end chewed off.

You need to take a leaf out of Ted Ball Pitt's book......Not the Torana!!.

I picked a few spare diffs up about 8 years ago at $50 a piece......see some people wanting $200 plus now.
