Hi,

I am about to embark on the rather costly exercise of strengthening my drive train and braking system to cope with the planned power output and vehicle purpose..

I'm concerned that making changes to the car will make RWC and registration approval difficult.

I am planning

HQ front rotors and a suitable 4 piston caliper (possibly Jap) - or hoppers stoppers

R31 B/W LSD disc brake rear end

Brake master cylinder upgrade

UC handbrake lever

Muncie 4 spd

There are plenty of modded Toranas out there.. Can people shed some light on their experiences with getting the modded cars registered (in VIC)..

What mods are engineering cert worthy? and what's the process?

Ultimately, by the time I am done, it will have non standard brakes, engine, trans and diff.. and wheels.. what issues will I have?

Most of those mods will need to be engineered if not all

^^^^^^^ Like he said, probably best thing to do before you do anything is consult a VASS engineer, tell him what you are planning and be guided by his knowledge. Do it now, it will only turn to tears if you go after you have done the mods. ASK a friend of mine how I know this.

Dan, If you haven't already, go to VicRoads web site and look at their requirements for modifications allowed without engineering and those for.  They also have a list of accredited engineers.  I was using Bonville but he tells me he is no longer doing modification works, albeit last time I looked he was still on the list.  I am now talking to Doug Gould at Test Trak.  He seems to be reasonable but time will tell when he sees the finished product.  Cheers Ron

The only things on your list that are likely to give you grief are the brake related items.
As above, have a good read of the VicRoads documents on allowable modifications. There is a lot you can do without involving an engineer.
