Have had the blue car out yesterday and today.
Stopped for coffee and had a little grey haired lady come up and tell me she liked my car and it reminded her of when she had an orange gtr back in the day which she traded in on a LJ XU1 with a blueprinted motor. “It went really fast!”
Not the conversation I expected to have!

Our old cars are great conversation starters.

Nice Car Rexy, They appeal to so many people. Most people at some time would have had an experience or two in a Torrie. Suppose that's why they still pull the dollars. All of the experiences from the past are slowly dieing and will be replaced with (nice car what is it ?). This is just life and will happen over and over. Lets enjoy the conversation and reminiscing why we can. Get the old girls out in the sun and get the old girls reminiscing before the Nice Car What Is It becomes the Norm.

I thought you meant the other blue car. That LJ is the business Rexy.

It was a good weekend to get the old cars out - pity about todays rain!

Plenty of parking space at the moment. Lots of smiles and a few conversations started.

I haven’t spent a lot of time in the blue LJ in recent times due to its bone jarring stiffness. Finally bothered to have a proper look at the rear suspension and discovered the previous owner had installed shocks that were fully compressed at the installed height. No wonder I felt every pebble and cats eye I ran over!

I found a very helpful older gent at my local pedders who took the time to hunt through the catalogs to find something with compatible mounts and the shortest possible fully compressed height. So I now have 2” of travel and the ride is markedly improved. Even better, they are Torana shocks - HB front.

I just wish I had bothered to do something about it years ago. Bloody inertia...
