Hi all.  I have two holes in the hatch area, one of which would be for the fuel tank strap mount, but not sure about the other.  The only thing I can think is that possibly there was a reinforcing plate included to support the bolt from the underside of the hatch area but I can't pick up anything to suggest this in the parts catalogue. Here's a pic FWIW.  Keen to find out what it is for.  Also, has anyone ever seen a tank stone shield, as per the parts catalogue.  Cheers Ron

Need a wider pic of the area to put it into perspective...

BUT, none of the tank strap mounting ends up inside the car. The rear most end of the strap is a hook that fits into a pocket/mount just behind the beaver panel that is welded to the underside of the floor. The front of the strap has a hole that fits onto a threaded rod that is also on a mount welded to the floor at the front of the tank.

Thanks Mick.  That makes a bit more sense and had a closer look at the parts catalogue.  Here is a better pic.  So obviously the hook part of the strap is a threaded hole to allow for the bolt (which doesn't appear that obvious to the naked eye). Now I need to find that bolt, or something that fits.  I've also taken a shot from under the car and you can see one of the holes.  The other one is further forward and covered from the shot by the bracket.  So, are these holes meant to be there?  Cheers Ron

Should mention, same on other side.  Cheers Ron

I'm pretty sure the holes in the floor as seen from above just had a big glob of sealer in them from new, but someone else will know for sure.

A quick search shows the straps with a hook at the rear and a screw to tie the end of the hook together and going through the mount that is on the underside of the floor.

My car has had a drop tank for maybe 15 years and I've forgotten the nitty gritty of how it all fits, but am sure the mounting is all outside the car.

Thanks Mick.  I finally found a pic of the floor and you are right.  Just looks like a big gob of seam sealer over them.  Also had a win (which are few and far away) I found the bolts for the rear hook section of the straps.  Cheers Ron
