What diff are you running behind your hot sixes?
I picked a 3.9 lsd banjo that has had a failure at a axle and damaged the spider gears , housing is still has life in it .
I've been looking at a 21 spline true track centre from harrow, anyone using them , are they a good choice behind a hot six ?
The cost to rebuild the old the Banjo will be around $800 and the true track is 1200

I can only tell you my experience.
200rhp LJ track type car.
Road registered.
Started with the banjo LSD.. it wore out the clutches, got it rebuilt...same again. A waste of time and money.Admittedly, they told me the replacement clutches were only available ex China.
Got the Harrop Tru trac...silent and smooth in operation, a great LSD as long as both wheels on the road. As soon as a wheel lifts ..its all over..acts like a single spinner. A good road or drag diff.
Went to a Detroit locker...noisey and quite rough in its operation. Once locked..its locked. Lift a wheel?..still have great drive. Good circuit diff.
Summary..depends on your application and style. Banjo LSD good for road..once you start track type stuff..prob. upgrade to something else.
IMHO
p.s I cound the Harrop T/T fine spline axles and the Detroit locker fine spline axles were diffent numbers of splines...thus if you go Harrop T/T , then Detroit, you will need new axles as well.

For street use a banjo will be ok if you only want to spend less than a grand.
Harrop list a 10 spline at $1800 on their site but there is little point paying that much only to munch axles.
You can get a 28 spline but then there is the axle issue.
I would explore the tried and tested BW78 if I were you.

Another option is to use a diff from a pre 1978 Hilux, which is within 3mm of LC/LJ width, 30 spline axles, large amount of ratios to pick from.

On a cool night it pushes 21-22psi.
Mainly drag duty.
Started with stock lsd & resplined axles that werenāt heat treated.
Twisted & broke the axles.
Went to 31 spline billettās & bought a new 31 spl lsd from street n strip.
Would not recommend those lsdās as They seemed to be of a softer material than originals & cones rapidly wore š
Now just have mini spool.
I have another BW cut down with 31spl axles for another LJ turbo red 6 slow project.
Certainly wonāt be destroying anyone bangoās anymore! They will be only for my nana spec beast š¤Ŗ
BW 28/31 spl, either good stock lsd (only 28 spl afaik) or truetrac ( but they have issues as stated above) billet axles & away you go! Oh & you will have rear discās so that will sorted (I fitted VL calipers on VN discās to balance the system)
But yes it does depend on the vehicles intended use.

For an N/A 6, resplined axles will work. I haven't broken any yet.

I learning towards modifying it as the risk with a bango isnāt worth it .. do it once do it right
