I'm finally able to get back into the market and now find I can't really afford a decent car (sigh)

Is a UC to LX conversion worth looking at? I have the opportunity to pick one up, still a 6 cylinder, still has UC dash (ugh) but the paint and panel work looks good. Asking price is $35K

Is it worth going down this route? or buy less car for $5-10K more?

I reckon 35k would be 10k more than what it would be worth even with the dash done and a V8?

Thanks, just seems to be very little decent stuff out there in the price range.

A mate has been doing one for the last 5 years or so and to be honest it is sooooo much work and at the end its still a UC plus dont forget all the engineering to get passed as a V8.

I thought about it before I got my LX SS but glad I didn't go that path. To be honest if I found a UC hatch I would restore it as a nice UC they are still a good car.

If it has zero rust, strong V8, good paint etc and the conversion is well done then it's worth at least 25K right now.

But the market appears to be falling so might be worth waiting for a little while. He might take 25 in a month or two, there seems to be a lot of people selling at the moment,
