how similar are the bucket seats in LX to HQ?
I need to replace the base of a LX seat and have some HQ ones in shed
Being lazy I know I could pull both seats apart and measure but thought some one would know
thanks

I don't know, but I would reckon each floor pan would be quite a bit wider in a HQ, so perhaps a wider seat as well.

Whilst on this subject, how many bolts does everyone use to mount their bucket seats? I notice the runners have like 6 or 8 holes each...??

Used to use 4 bolts per seat.
The extra holes were for the shorter or taller people to move the seats back and forward a little more.
Going from memory anyway.

There are only 4 captive nuts per seat in the floor pan.
I don't have a HQ seat to compare, but may be able to ascertain something from the runners I have, when I get a chance to dig them up later today. Cheers Ron

Hi there,
If you have early HQ seats (full spring base) the spring mounts might make it difficult but if you have later model ones (4 springs) they are quite similar with the main difference being the springs and foam. The frame of a Hq has a level rear centre section whereas an LH/LX it kicks up slightly. Basically you would have to remove the HQ springs and fit the LH/LX springs (the mounting positions are exactly the same) and to compensate for no kick up in the frame just glue in some firm foam or even some layers of cardboard (about 1cm). You'll have to strip them both down to do the job and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Hope this helps
Regards
Jim

thanks jj that's saved me stripping seats to check
the base of the LX seat has rusted away so nothing would be much good to swap
have other LX seats I can use
I use 8 bolts, there are 2 in each of the 4 runner mounts

I had these re trimmed, but they look a bit odd. Is it me or is there some issues ?

Those seats look terrible Ray, but only because you pointed it out. If you didn't I may not have noticed at all. Got any pics of the outside of the car yet? I've been waiting to see it for almost as long as it took you to get it!

Looks nice, black air filter finishes the motor ok. I will change it to an original looking one in time. I will also relocate the tacho light into the aircon vent from the dash. I hate the tacho light in the dash.

Looking good Ray. You must be happy. Cheers Ron

Thanks Ron, yeah happy. . Needs a good polish.
Hey Ron. I did a favour for a mate the other day. He insisted on giving me another Deville badge I think they car them. I remember you saying about not paying stupid money for one and I agree. When I pick it up, I will have to keep that one lol. I will have the one off mine (WB). I think I could let it go cheap to yourself. I will take some pics when its available. Or if mine is in better shape then you can have the other one lol.
^ call them

Thanks Ray. Pm me once you have it and we will take it from there. Thanks for remembering and the thought. Cheers Ron
Out of curiosity, what height air filter is currently on it and what carby is under it. Just doing some research for when the time comes as I know it can get a bit tight without a scoop. Cheers Ron

Hello Again Ron, so the carby is a Holley. Is there a number somewhere ? It doesn't have a choke. Starts fine atm.

Thanks again Ray. I don't need the exact carb info just trying to get some generic info at present.
Seats look good. Cheers Ron
