Bought a t5 vr v8 gearbox today and noticed this gap between box and transmission got me wondering if the bellhousing isn’t the right one ?

Could be for a different trans but same bolt pattern?  Does the bellhousing bolt up to your motor?

Pinched this pic from google as I couldn't be bothered going through all mine -

This IS a v8 box, you can see where the shape of the front face matches your bellhousing.

IIRC the main difference is input shaft length, if yours has been changed it should work, if not, lose two pistons or chuck that box! :dontknow:

guess ill measure the shaft length tomorrow and check it against the v8 shaft length? then assume its the wrong bellhousing, part numbers says vr v8 but nothing on the bellhousing

Few pictures of input shaft length vr t5 v8’s are 200mm so I’m guessing this is right as I’m probably putting the tape in slightly the wrong spot, bell housing also fits into my 308 so that’s fine.

Had a mate ask around for me and came back to me saying vr v8 t5’s have that gap ?
Still unsure but will keep doing research

Fair enough, I've seen my share of T5's but I'm not an expert - and if it fits then its all good anyway :spoton:

The VR box is the odd one.

Check the Dellow site for measurement

"odd one" = good or bad??

I've never seen it done but if you were handy with a TIG and a milling machine I reckon it wouldn't be too hard to move the shifter forward on the existing extension housing yourself?

Just shorten the shift-rod (hardest part would be drilling a new roll pin hole) and weld up a new mounting "box" out of ally further forward.

Way cheaper than sourcing parts from a ford if you had the necessary skills?

Okay I take it back, didn't realise just how cheap ford parts are... that's a bargain at $75!

Can I weigh in here.
It looks like you have a normal VR-VS V8 T5 gearbox and bellhousing.
VN-VP have te differnt bell-to-trans bolt pattern.
The VR-VS has the same as Ford and other w/c T5's.
Are you planning to change the extension housing to bring the shifter forward?
