We've been workin on it for a couple of weekends...

I'm only home for 2 days at a time, usually.

Probly about 10 hours all up... Keep in mind we only did one guard and half of the nosecone...

So what's next Tim? Gonna swap the radiator panels over and then whack the spare frontal bodywork on? Or is there other damage in the engine bay that you need to worry about as well? (chassis rails, battery tray area etc)

Nah, radiator panel will just be straightened out.

I need to find another LC/LJ and get the lower nosecone off of it... The one on the good LJ is rooted, and the one on the shell is rusted to peices.

Posted Image

The lower bit on that is damaged beyond repair...

There is no damage to Chassis rails or anything, thank god. It only damaged the outer panels.

Nice milk crate full of the worker's fuel you've got there.

Do you don't need to find another whole car; just next time someone is wrecking one ask them to cut it out for you and make them an offer. Too easy

Going good there RIM, Mate, can i just recomend you atleast wire wheel, rust convert & whack some matt black, even primer on that left rear quarter, other areas too, if it's gunna be a while before you repair these areas properly. Just don't want to see your pride & joy corrode any more than necessary. Friendly advise. :D

and with that gaurd off a personal bit of advice

im not sure on how the toranas setup is but if its like hk or hqs then i advise this!

you know how u have a pipe that drains the water from the vents infront of the windscreen? well for some cheaper reason holden cut them off short (im taking a stab in the dark abuot this due to the rust that appers there in torries!)

if you can go to bunnings and grab a bit of clear plastic pipe and run it all the way down just passed the gaurd therefore no water is touching the gaurd therefore no rust

(my dad did this to his hk monaro and has poured a bucket of water down there and it all went on his foot

the gaurd was nice and dry!

he also had to use a cuople of hose clamps for this

MAKE SURE U FISH OIL IT AS WELL

and im serious just go over board mate air compressor and spray it in every crack there is while that gaurds off

also take off those bloody rubber stoppers on the car as they are murderers to cars (i pulled them off the stato and fond holes all the way through everywhere!

I've been meaning to do that for a while... It'll all be in primer by the end of the Summer Holidays anyway, so I'll just leave it till then.

I'm not sure if I wanna take the other guard off now aswell... It means that I will be able to get rid of any rust behind it, but it also means that I have to take the other door off.

And I've already cut between the Nosecone and guard. Grr! :banghead:

I dunno. Any Ideas?

RIM, I would definately remove the drivers door & front guard, you've come this far, better safe than sorry. Peace of mind, sounds like you plan to keep the car a long time. Don't cut corners, you'll kick yourself if u do. I'm sure others will agree!

The drivers guard has been replaced since new. Theres no rust in it, or the drivers side sill. We've decided to keep it on.

Currently unpicking the lower-left nosecone. :spoton:

BTW Tim at the last swapmeet I was at, I bought a pair of 13x6" LH style chromies for $30 with a pair of shithouse tyres. And let's just say they weren't the only pair there. I strongly advise you to see if you can head out to any Swapmeets in SA over the Christmas holidays, that is provided that you want to run those wheels (as you did last time I checked).

I doubt mine will be for sale any time soon (and postage wouldn't be fantastic) but if you want some pics I'll get some for you!

Take it easy bud

Don't get your hopes up too much about the Rebels... please trial fit them before you pay for them, I have a feeling the offset will make them fit really far out. I mean 7"s will be cutting it anyway. Good luck!
