Hey all. I was prob last on here 10yrs ago; prob longer.

Had a serious back injury that kept me in bed for 4 yrs.

Have since moved from WA to NSW  - Snowy Mountains.

Had 2 kids; bought a house, built a shed; bought a business, and generally been time and money poor. Like most.

Anyway i never lost the dream of building my 308 LJ. I kept this beat up 2 door for 16yrs and in the last 6 months have really got stuck in.

I am doing it ALL myself as this has been part of my dream.

From the firewall forward there is one panel; the DS inner fender. I removed the damaged PS side one and promptly found the chassis rail was bent.

I have stripped and rubbed back the entire car by hand; found plenty of rust (nothing terminal though) and plenty of dents. So from the firewall forward it'll be all new Rares panels; I also need to get a DS door skin as the one on It had 2 inches of bog (no exaggeration) we get some kind of discount on here? :D

It'll be a few years finishing it.

I just finished hogging out the rear wheel tubs and have some McDonald Bro's mini tubs coming soon.

.333 stroker; T5; salisbury 10 bolt - detroit locker centre; 4 wheel discs; blah blah blah.

Thanks for reading. Mark.

G'day Mark, welcome back!

I thought you couldn't get a 308 engineered in an LJ these days (let alone a 333 cube stroker)?

Will be fun cruiser when done with that driveline...mine was mini-tubbed gtr  efi 195i/getrag/3.9 borgie 330mm fronts rolling on 18x8 Granges.

Kind of like 4.8/5.3 ls engine conversion these days but stroker 355,f280 cam,vn heads combo are awsome too.

Was done before brake kits were available during retrotech era lol.

Had custom hubs & caliper brackets on hq stubs,330mm discs & corvette(?) calipers.....all done to fit vt-z offset wheels.

If did it again would keep Torana stubs for less bumpsteer etc, also hq stud pattern & smaller discs for larger range of wheel choice.

Rears were normal commodore rear discs, shortened wagon/ute cables & toyota hanbrake as torrie item touched tailshaft...lower rear shock touched caliper but easily fixed with new bracket or stud.

Hoppers Stoppers probably easiest kit to use once work out what wheels & offset you want.

Diff bought 14 odd yrs ago.

The black dented piece on the panel is where whilst towing the Torrie over the mountains I encountered unseasonal (and for me being from WA the first snow i had ever seen). Whilst sliding off the road and going "oh crap oh crap" we came to rest abruptly and the Torrie moved squishing up against a stack of weight plates (amongst other stuff) I had stashed in the trailer. Dammit. Some nice fellas in a patrol pulled me back on the road ha ha
