Can't help you as to whether you can still buy them BUT, a friend who was an accident investigator with Vic Police years ago told me the air shocks that were being fitted to panel vans in the Starsky and Hutch wannabe era way back were thought to be responsible for a number of straight line roll overs . They reasoned that on a cambered/ uneven/ potholed road the wheel with the extended shock would receive a shot of excessive air volume from the lightly loaded other side  thus causing the trim of the rear of the car to be adversely affected. Invariably the usual fit-up was one schraeder valve with a T piece and a line to each shock. If a tap were fitted to one line to isolate it  from the other after air was checked or added, then this transference could not happen and the car was much safer to operate as both shocks were isolated and "equal" in "spring rate" and height . He was adamant that the reason for some of these crashes was caused this way.

I've had air shocks on my hatch for numerous years.

You must have them separated with individual air lines & valves then there's no problem with air pressure transfer as stated above.

They're great especially if you run wide wheels with flares & when loading up with family, luggage for touring interstate etc.

I usually only need to lift about 20-30mm when loaded & that doesn't affect the suspension ride that's noticeable.

Cheers

Some good info here, but sorry no idea if adjustable shocks are still available.

To modernise the lack of control problem with connected shocks, is it true the LIFT - both chassis and tyre diameter on 4WDs mainly is being limited to 75mm total( eg 2 inch lift and a 1inch taller wheel/tyre combo) due to the way the mods may affect ESC ( slip control of all various names).  Ideas/ theories on what effect the lift is playing with the ESC welcomed if the OP doesn't mind. Cheers

The lift laws on 4wds have been around for some time.
The requirement to use an engineer to sign off has also been there.
It is more critical on 4wds with ESC.
ESC systems use the pitch, yaw, speed, acceleration sensors for information, you raise a car, change a wheel/tyre size, those sensors are now reading incorrect info.
Some 4wds use hydraulic locking diffs an transfer cases, can afect this too.
Manufacturers spend millions fine tuning the system, its not a matter of changing a couple of numbers and your good to go.
