Maybe Laurie,
Any electro plater experts online??

Mark's Image, above is a nice indication, of how the repro bars will possibly look down the track.

So, on behalf of a mate, i have emailed the below to ask the question, of the cause of markings on the lower bar Tanges.

See what comes back :)

Also requested if the process can be improved for future, in attempt to prevent possible surface corrosion of the area. ;)

Below is my original email based on the above images.... then the reply.

Hi as a loyal customer, also curious to the process used to chrome plate the Subject products.
Can you share with me the way the Bumper Bars are dipped for chrome plating and polished.

Please see the 2 immediate below attached images of the lower edge Tange holes, where it appears a fastener has been used to secure the Bumper Bar.
Is it an electrode attachment of some description?
Or Jig to secure the Bar for other production purposes?

This is of a recently purchased front Bumper Bar, in Australia.

Below again also are 2 images of another reproduced (not so recent purchase) Front Bumper Bar LC LJ Torana, lower edge Tanges that have had something attached to them during the manufacturing/plating process.

Eventually, this area as below 1 image again, would be prone to future surface rusting,
Is this something you can address for future Quality customer satisfaction.

Thank you for your help. Very much appreciated
Jason. :)

Jason,

Thank you for your email.

We take thorough buffing and polishing before the plating process. Lead is pretty much banned for plating purposes due to the environment hazard regulation. So the more time you spend on buffing and polishing the better.

All our bumpers use triple nickel plating. Each bumper is attached on its own hanger (since every bumper is shaped differently). And most of the time we use the overrider holes as the attached point for the hanger.

The "un-plated" marking shown in your picture is caused by the mounting hardware of the hanger. We use the same method across all models and applications.

We've discussed with our distributors like RSP regarding the possibility of having the bumpers plated in Australia. And simply it's not possible due to the fact that there's no facility in Australia which could accommodate the size of the bumper at the volume and cost.

Hope this answers your question!
