I was just doing some reading and saw some info about these isky roller lifters... Seems like a great innovation- they have mastered the tech with a bushed roller rather than needles in the bearing...

Probably still not exactly street friendly- but at least you do not need a complete tear down if a lifter fails- these isky lifter might wipe a cam if a lifter fails but you wont have 100s of needle bearings scattered through the sump...

 

Anyone used them before?

Pretty common to use in big blocks as they run much more lift and duration so require more spring pressure.
Prob not available as a “bolt in” for a holden, maybe custom or machine the holden to suit, pretty serious cam for a holden if you require the spring pressures that require those lifters.

Cheers mate... I wasn't really looking or seriously thinking of running them in the holden, I just read about them and thought it was a great design that could give solid rollers 'a little' more justice with street use, do to their omission of needle bearings in their design... 

 

I'd love a solid roller but on the street it just seems too much and more maintenance that I am prepared to make to be honest.. I only drive about 500miles a year but years go by fast and I struggle to find time to maintain the old girl as it is... Maybe when life settles down a bit I will give a solid roller a crack.

I can't think of any reason why you couldn't use these new Isky lifters with any roller camshaft, not just the biggest mothers.

Solid rollers are quite good if you have top quality parts from lifters , pushrods rocker gear,valve material, springs, retainers.

I run one in my j zed turbo engine on the street ,once sorted very little maintenance is required.

Comp Cams make a street friendly roller lifter, their extream range has an oiling slot in the side of the lifter, so that it is pressure fed to the roller at idle, fixes the issue.

Comp cams do some awesome products, probably underrated company in Australia. A hydraulic roller lifter is good for around 650 thou of lift, i think that would be fine in any holden 6 or 8 cylinder & street friendly. Ls engines are hydraulic roller standard, changing cam ads around 50 hp in them, with pretty good manners for big lift. Expensive exercise in a holden i would say though.

Comes down to cost S PACK, thats the main thing.
Have been told the ins and outs of this style of lifter, think there is a downside cant remember off the top of my head, may just be the intial cost.

Roller cams are def worth the money, if its just a street, engine hydraulic roller is just fine and more than enough for most applications.
They improve drivabilty, mid range power, can have good power and good street manors
