Hi guys. I am fitting a EL T5 into my hatch.I am mounting it to a Dellow bellhousing onto a 308.When I went to raise it up it hits the floor before it is high enough.I have read many posts on this fitment and I expect I need different engine mounts to bring the motor lower so as to be able to get the gearbox high enough.I am not sure how to tell which mounts I have. The mounts I have on the car measuring from the mounting surface of the block to the centre of the bolt through the K frame are 95mm on rightside and 100 mm on leftside. This would explain why gearbox is hitting on leftside and not the right.I have another set of engine mounts which both measure 90mm.My problem is will these 90mm mounts bring the motor down enough or is it possible to get lower than this. I reckon the back of the box probably needs to come up 30 to 40 mill.I have photos of mounts on the car and the other set on the bench.Any help with this problem would be much appreciated. Thanks Dale Having trouble posting photos can't remember how to do get them small enough
T5 won't fit in tunnel

Hey Dale, To resize my pics, pick the photo and then click edit. Then look for resize and enter. After its been resized, you will have to save the photo with new name. Rainman

Looks like the mounts in the car are both Torana mounts, whereas the pair on the bench are HQ-WB mounts.

Tried bolting the bellhousing / clutch assembly to the engine first?

Yeah Col.This is fully bolted together with the motor tilted backwards and it hits the tunnel before it gets up high enough when raising the box up to normal position.I took photos but you couldn't see anything except the back of the box hanging down.
I am hoping if I change engine mounts to HQ that might fix the problem. Also thank you Andrew for identifying the 2 different types of mounts as I was not sure. Dale

Hi Dale. There is a thread on this somewhere as I read it when I was considering what mounts to buy. From memory the HQ mounts reduce the engine height by about 5mm and move the engine back a bit but can't remember by how much. I think the trade-off is that you have less sump clearance. Good luck with it. Cheers Ron

If it needs cutting, cut it - do it properly and do a nice job, you won't regret it.

Hi Mate,
I done this conversion [ford xf T5 in to my LH] using reproduction torana mount brackets and torana spesific engine mounts. I havent had any prob. gearbox was clear the apx 4mm tunnel. i was using CRS T5 specific x member. CRS th350 x member can be modify to this and need to rais it apx 8 mm and toung need to be midify.
u can us torana or HQ 308./253 sump. you shoud be ok. I use HQ sump. i had no prob.
please use
Torana Engine mount Bracket
Torana Engine Mount
CRS Ford T5 x Member or modify ur x member
U no need to cut the tunnel if u alrady have a 4 speed on it. [ u need to trim existing shifter hole apx 5 mm to clear the shifter]
hope this helps
