Hi all ,I'm presuming this is the correct fan pulley and pump for LCGTR? I'm going to replace the pump although it has the bigger diameter hub and slightly longer shaft. Can I use a puller and just swap the hubs? Ta Paul.

Probably wasting your time on old pumps? A press would be better.

I have a correct pulley and fan for that pump with the larger hub ,but the fan itself is larger and rounded at the blade ends which I think isn't right for LCGTR can someone confirm this for me please .Thanks Paul.

Rob,it's a good original pump with the cast impeller so I want to use it rather than one of those tin ones.

Fair enough. I just think you'll struggle with a puller on the flange but good luck!

So did the LCGTR have the water pump with the smaller hub?

Dr Terry, on 08 May 2007 - 10:59, said:
Hi Guys.

Many parts catalogues dont list these pumps properly.

There are actually 4 different water pumps for the Holden 6.

1. EH to HK (small hub & short shaft) this has the common industry part no. of W587

2. HT to HZ/VB & LC to UC Without viscous fan clutch (large hub & short shaft) part no. W726

3. HJ to HZ/VB & LC to UC With viscous fan clutch (large hub & long shaft) part no. W814

4. WB/VC to VK Large housing & bearing (commonly called the 'Jumbo' pump) part no. W815

Type 1 has a unique (smaller) bolt pattern, so must be used if you want to retain the original pulley and fan.

Types 2 & 3 use the same pulley (as each other) and can often be interchanged; the only difference between the 2 is the length of the shaft in front of the flange. Type 3 is usually the one seen on cars with factory-fitted Frigidaire air conditioning.

Type 4 has the same hub as 2 & 3 but is further forward so its pulley has a bigger offset. Type 4 was actually introduced after the Blue motor intro, so early WB/VC Blue motors can be seen with the type 3 pump.

Hope this helps. Can we make this sticky, it comes up alot ?

Dr Terry.

These are what were taken off the car a 71 LCGTR which I now think is incorrect for the car ,as it's the smaller hub , like to hear from any LCGTR experts.

Thanks for the relply Col, ok so that's looks to be the large hub type , and if that's correct it means I have the wrong fan and hub.

Hi Gary, that fan and pulley only bolt up to that small hub, so the LCGTR had the small hub on the water pump?

The LC & LJ parts catalogues all list the same Pulley for LC & LJ 6cyl.

Pulley for the HK 161 & 186 has a different part number.

LC GTR 2600S & 2850S are listed as having the same fan blade assy which is the same part number for LJ GTR.

geez..I'm confused..your GTR setup is the

-small flanged pump,

-the small pulley

-and that fan

seems like a matching set to me?..or am I confused even more than I think?

The only thing wrong is the unpainted pump in your pic?...you can get a new correct one with the small flange, at Repco .
