I've been watching eBay & Gumtree stupid drug money pricing on these steering wheels and it's getting ridiculous .....Should I just purchase a new Rare Spares steering wheel for the similar price ..$500
Anybody purchased a new Rares Steering wheel ...what are they like ?
Cheers Aaron

I bought a new Rares one many years ago, can't fault the quality. Not for the rivet counters as it was a separate boss and wheel setup but if that doesn't concern you much nicer to have brand new grain on the rim. 3mm only.
The RSP sports wheel was completely redesigned a few years ago and is now a one piece wheel and boss like the original. Still comes in 3mm spokes only.

To be fair I agree that they are expensive now but back in the 80's and 90's I have bought a few of these for different cars i have had and none of them were ever cheap from memory. I think I always paid around $50 - $100 for one which back then was decent money. I seem to recall the new Bridgestone Holden ones were around $160 new ??? I can even remember when I was an apprentice with no money I carefully split the outer plastic off one, cut off the broken steel ring then welded a new solid ring that I got rolled to the diameter and then put the outer plastic back on and glued it back together. That would have been about 1984 and I would have only gone to that much trouble because they were expensive to buy.

I will definitely be considering buying a new Rare Spares steering wheel even though I'd rather purchase original parts

I'm sure China could knock them up for 120 bucks.
