Behind the gril, ie radiator support section where the headlight buckets are etc. is it completely black or is there some color as well?

It should match the engine bay I believe.
On my Adelaide LJ the engine bay is grey like the boot and so is the area that you're talking about.

That's because some painters just paint for the $ & aren't interested in car's in the slightest.
