Moving to the underbody restoration of the L34. What is the original colour of the underbody? The car is chrome yellow. Also what areas of the underbody were treated with stone/sound deadener?

I can say at least under the wheel arches where done in the texture coating, don't forget your quality seam sealer & drying times. Possibly under the bottom back edge of the radiator support panel. Probably should have yellow overspray on the floorpan under sills, if you're chasing originality too. Gary.

Thanks Gary. Sorta confirms what I was thinking. There are still plenty of remnants of the texture coating in the rear wheel arches. Brings back the memories of hand washing there and feeling the roughness. Thanks for the tip on the radiator support panel.

Remember, that texture coating has asbestos in it. If you're removing it take appropriate measures.

Ta. Read that on another thread somewhere. Hoping to leave the original stuff intact, clean it up and then coat over it.

I've never really gone back over it, but give it a really good power wash or something & I'd probably use something like the wurth brand for some good quality and then the low gloss black, once it's fully cured. Gary.
