Just scored myself one of those kinchrome degreaser thingys with the little pump in it. Was wondering what people out there use as degreaser or solvent in them and what works best.

Cheers

I wouldn't recommend the waterbased cleaner.

I have always used "High cut kerosene" in mine. Not cheap though, most wholesale oil sellers should be able to get it for you. A friend of mine has access to left over "Avtur" which is the fuel used in jet engines. When fire fighting season is over and the choppers have gone back to Canada any fuel left over is discarded for safety reasons. Try your local airfields or firefighting services for this stuff.

Thanks Fellas

I tried the water base stuff, and wasn't real good. I reckon I'll go with diesel brew.

Cheers

You may not have got a decent product in the water based. That's the way I'm going to go. But make sure that you get the right cleaner if you are going to use it on aluminum ect. Some of them make it turn black. Gary.

Kincrome does not recommend kero. Ive asked them.

I tried using kero and it was useless.  Dont know why but a $2 spray can of degreaser worked better.

Anyway I use the supercheap SCA workshop ready degreaser available in a 20 litre.

It work well for me.

I use white spirit. It is very easy on the skin & leaves virtually no residue.

Most automatic transmission shops have used it for decades.

Think the one I used was kenco, maybe I diluted it to much, as I've usually found it to be very good as a general degreaser. I might try and track down the white spirit Dr Terry has mentioned.

Thanks
