It’s wrong as they didn’t have an ADR plate in 1968

It has just been mis-stamped. These plates are stamped manually, so human errors creep in every now & then.

It is obviously meant to be stamped 4/78, this lines up with the codes on the other 2 plates.

As lakeside has said, there were no ADR Compliance existing in 1968.

I remember a few years ago seeing a 9/70 LC GTR with its ADR plate stamped 9/60.

There is another LC Torana (a GTR I believe) with HG stamped on the compliance plate instead of LC.

Rivets look to be original as well. The good old Friday arvo stamp job.

The typist must have had a liquid lunch that day, it's missing ADR 6 as well.

Is that engine number QL903719 or XQL903719 (I think I can see a very faint "X")?

And what's the cast date off that block?

I'd say the only way you'll get selling dealer info is to order a report from Holden Historical Services:

http://www.holdenhis...ervices.com.au/

That will also tell you whether that engine number is original or not (I would've thought it should have the "XQL" prefix being an auto).
