Check the earths at the headlights, park lights, and the earth behind the dash.

Single blue wire feeds power from the headlight switch to the dipper switch. The dipper switch then feeds power to the low beam via  the tan wires and power to the high beam and high beam indication light via the light green wires.

I'd be checking the dipper switch.

Maybe a poor earth on one of the headlights?...current going through the low beam fillament, and due to no good earth at the headlight, then going back via the hi beam fillament and through the High Beam globe.
The offending headlight should be duller than the good one....assuming they are not both dodgey.
All this also assumes your installation is factory correct.

Col's thoughts about the headlight earths are worth investigating. Probably best to check the earths first before the dipper switch.

I doubt it will be the switch.

The symptoms you describe would happen about once in a million faults.

Earths at the headlight, or a really bad connection to the earth connector in the headlight plug.

I consider that as checking the earths anyway.

There is a remote possibility that the filaments have lost contact with the earth in the globe.

I have seen that once, but it was also due to a bad connector in the plug.

Hey Glen,

This happened to myself two days ago. I replaced the H4s with some 100/90 and now my high beam light stays on. It was fine before I changed the globes. Ray
