The paddock had lots to look at as usual on Summernats Saturday.

The Torana club had a good display.

The post lunch highlight was the re running of the Doorslammer and the pro radial twin turbo car on the dyno.
Yesterday had gone to the turbo car with victory by less than 20 hp.

Today the doorslammer ran first.

I would love to have one. Bit of a palaver though getting it started what with the external battery and BYO starter motor to mount to the blower. Seems to need a lot of folk as seen in the pic.

It was loud. Super freaky rattle your chest and brain loud. Loved every second!

Time for the pro radial car. Like the doorslammer, it’s has some “ituning” performed since its last outing.
Seems quiet as a kitten after the slammer.

I am sure that the script of this mockumentary had them losing today so the “tie” could be settled tomorrow.
I also predict that the cars will be turned up a bit more for Sunday and that 3000 plus will be achieved.


While there they ran a couple of other cars. This was the battle of Camry versus Box Torana.

Who won?
It shall forever be known as black dyno Friday...
355 powered torrie made 300 hp.
Turbo Camry made 400.

To lift my mood after the dyno shaming of our beloved Torana by the “white goods on wheels” I decided to go to the burnout masters qualifying.

It had been brought forward a bit given the look of the skies.

First two cars I saw caught fire. Proper fire.

Down on the fence, blackened and deafened I felt renewed and reenergised. Sadly the weather turned a bit damp so I figured I would start wandering out.

Headed past Tuff street and the fantastic new addition “skid lane”.

Always a hotspot for illegal burnouts they added a second anticlockwise lane where you could do a rolling burnout. Very popular with a queue waiting every time I walked past.

As I passed a youngster in a VL decided he couldn’t wait and did a big smokie in the clockwise “no burnouts lane”.

They are blocking him in and nearly getting run over..

Then the security zone chief arrives.

Seems done and dusted so I continue to mosey to the exit.

But then the crowd noise and burnout noise increases....
Suddenly there are more security and proper cops heading into the action.

I didn't see 26B again unfortunately.
I just missed the ACL dragster pull of over 2800hp, shed must have been packed judging by the numbers pouring out...
Top 10 burnouts was good.

Sadly I spent over a thousand kays in the car today on my circuitous route back to Melbourne. Kinda tired...

Are there six cylinder cars there? Sure. But they’re not my thing. You are receiving the biased view of one V8 lovers Summernats adventure!
