G'day all,

Hope that you all had a great end of year break.

Is anyone able to help me or point me in the direction of anyone who has some Yellow Plaid fabric?

I have an LX Sunbird which originally came with the fashion pack. Unfortunately the fabric has severely faded and needs replacing. If anyone can help it would be very much appreciated.

Hi Ant, we had great success with flipping the material in my gf's fashion pack Gemini with the blue/green tartan. We unpicked the vinyl from the tartan and washed it after hemming the edges to stop fraying. It is double sided material so you will find it will be bright and colourful on the reverse. Only part we couldn't flip was the door trims due to glue used but the Torana might be different in that regard. Once flipped and stitched up with new vinyl you couldn't tell the fabric was second hand.

Thanks Zedzone!! That is a brilliant idea!! I'll definitely give that a whirl.
Might just replace the cards(as they're glued as well) and the rear seat as they have rips 😖
Did you end up finding replacement materia for the door cards?

Yes I've bought 2 lengths of blue/green off eBay over the last 5 years. It pops up every now and then. It pays to check German and UK eBay too as they used this tartan originally on Vauxhall Chevettes and Opel Kadetts. I'll post some pics of our car soon.

Not sure if its a similar material but the VW Kombi guys sell plaid in most colors.

If the yellow plaid in the LX Fashion pack is the same as that used in the Gemini then it will be Yellow, Brown, Black

Yes as far as I know the plaid is the same as what was used in the Gemini 👍

HZ GTS tartan trim is the same as the TD and TE Gemini tartan ie 1978 79 1980, the Sunbirdie trim is the earlier style pattern like 1975-77 Gemini tartan.

 

Early yellow tartan is yellow/orange/black

 

Early green tartan is green/blue/black

 

Early red tartan is red/orange/black.
