The side body mouldings were standard on SL and Sunbird models I believe, the SS had a full length decal instead.

Although you could obviously get aftermarket strips, but your photo isn't good enough to tell the difference?

Yep chipboard looks original it would have had a big piano hinge running up the middle. Mick at Torana RPA has these as a kit i think if you need it mate. (the metal, not the timber)

Yeah dunno, they might be the factory mouldings...

If you can remove the side trim and get a look inside the rear quarter at the back near the tail light you'll see the factory mouldings are secured from the inside at the rear of the strip with a kind of speed nut (I think they used to call them)?

Little Brother has a genuine SL hatch- not sure the strips look like yours will need to check.

Agree, GMH usually had proper caps on the ends to finish them off, not leave raw cut ends like those in the pics.

Factory or not it’s pretty obvious that the drop from door rear to quarter panel is entirely consistent with the decal sticker line above. Both the sticker and the bump rubber trim were in the same alignment. Then the door dropped.........

Have a look at these photos, I have two sets of stripes on my SL hatch ,the black would be factory as it held on by pins and the top strip well I guess the previous owner really didn't want to damage his car. I like em as I haven't had a dint from opening my door or Vica versa.Attached File  IMG_0774.JPG   155.34K   8 downloads

Sorry..don't know why my car is upside down ??

Here is a screen shot of the GMH Torana Hatchback advert of the day. It shows a Royal Plum SL Hatchback with the factory strips.
