Hi all, I've just been reading Glen's (turbo76lx) build thread, which is awesome.  I'm curious about his engineer requiring the inclusion of rear retractables and wondering if anyone else in Victoria has any experiences in this regard. I know I can ring my engineer but would like to have some better knowledge before I do so. Cheers Ron

Hey Ron, did they come out with retractable seatbelts ? Makes me wonder if the engineer is saying all toranas with non retractable seatbelts do not conform. Rear  seats of course. Maybe its a H/P thing ? what type of H/P ?. Or maybe just easier and less fuss to pass ? If you had an early car manufactured with no seat belts, I couldn't see getting it back on the road would require seat belts, unless it has more H/P than when produced. Only a guess but I could only assume it H/P related. Ray

Hi Ray.  They didn't come with rear retractables.  HP can be the only reasonable explanation but what would be the guidelines? X% over original KW or something else.  Unlike Glen's build I am just going for a 355 stroker but looking to get around 450KW at the flywheel.  Obviously I am trying to avoid having to install them but by the same token don't want to get to the end of the build and find I have to backtrack.  Maybe best to ring my engineer? Cheers Ron

I imagine the BIG difference would be that Glen's LX is so heavily modified that it's now an ICV?

And if so would need to conform to all the current ADRs, one of which no doubt calls for retractable seat belts in all outboard seating positions.

That makes sense Andrew.  Cheers Ron
