remember the days pre net, forums eBay etc and what a pain it was chasing up info and parts. And I'm only in my 40s. One bonus of the Internet is making the car restorer/owners life far easier.

Anyway I'm new to Toranas but have owned a few older Holdens over the years. HR wagon. WB Ute etc.

I have first dibs on an LX sedan with V8 manual -check 253 or 308 today. Was an SL with 6 and auto. It needs resto but presents as straight some SLR internal fitted from what I can gather (dash etc) Hotwire mags. Holley carb and extractors. Front lower scoop and rear boot fairing. Painted in white with a basic SLR scheme. I'll do a full resto so paint etc not an issue.

I will try and attach a couple of photos.

I can get it for 10k and am keen on your thoughts on whether it is reasonable value. I will keep u all in the loop if I purchase and provide some photos and updates.

Thanks
Richard

Hi Richard,

Welcome to the forum, you're right about how much easier it is with the internet.

From your write up it sounds like paint and panel are within your skill set or budget and that would be one of the bigger costs so if that is not an issue, go for it.

Hard to say from the pics if it is worth $10k but hard to buy one for $10k so it would seam fir to me. Sure you will hear from some better educated members soon.

If you buy it, hope it's fun and a success.

Cheers, Tom

Looks like a decent Lh L31 SLR 5000 mockup...if it's also got slr steering wheel & seats jump on it quick particularly if body is in sound condition.

More pics & info would be good but so far looks like a very good deal for 10k.

Thanks for your advice so far guys. Appreciate it. There was no similar examples on the net to try and judge the value.

Any more feedback greatly appreciated.

Couple more photos.

Cheers Richard

I would buy it in a flash. There would be nothing to compare it too, because no one would sell one that cheap. Aussie V8 Classic

Thanks guys (assuming all guys...)

I struck the deal so should trailer it home next week sometime. Quite a bit better than I expected. Paint will need redoing but under all that dust I could polish it up to look not too bad. Same for bumpers. Dash I think is SLR?
Door trims similar but not same grey insert as I can find on net. Turns out to be a QR 253. Icing on the cake would have been a 308. Wheels and tyre vgc. Minimal rust from what I can tell. Any recommendations for trim kits?

No doubt ill pester you all for a while yet.

Last question for a week or so. Don’t wish to start GMH forum time pestering you all. Is the dash in photos from SLR. And how did you tell the seats might be same. Is it the combined headrest?

If it has a tacho more than likely an SLR dash
it is the combined head rest just trims were different
