That sheen level looks the goods mate, very nice, what's the paint brand ? If your mate, uses the solid colour for the stripes and doesn't flow coat it, I'm going to be super impressed. I farking hate the look of a flow coat, sorry, but if it was painted new with an edge, just like anything 60's & 70's it should be re painted with the edge. Personally i just think it looks right.

What do you mean flow coat??

Put the front end back in this morning, getting the new headliner in on Tuesday then back home and the fun begins a2f9e9803ae5febc9f573daabb6e5fe4.jpg
We are using PPG For the stripe we’re just going to put on the stencil and paint it blue

Where you block all the colour down, mask & paint stripes, clear the shit out of it over the top & then block it flat, so you can't feel the edge. Now i know some people like it, but i just think it's wrong, on thses old cars, that had paint edges from the factory. It irritates the crap out of me. The paint edge is the old character i reckon. I'm a fan of 2 pack, but i like to see originality reproduced with it. That's just me, probably looks good on late model stuff though.

Not going to be any clear over the top. The guys are slicing the colour back a fair bit to try and get an acrylic like appearance and just a quick buff after the stripes to take off the real sharp edges

Gotcha, for me I think this would be the preference for me. Feeling the edge every time I washed it may drive me nuts. Pretty sure the old boy will me marking and shooting. Also I think he said he is going to paint it in acrylic. He did one of my cars in 2k and he said it was just a lot more work for minimal gain. It honestly doesn't seem much more harder wearing, I found I got stone chips just the same. Maybe a bit more scratch resistant?

I think I like the black engine bay rather then colour coded.

In saying that, some of fast ways of buffing ect, they did in the factories, was as rough as guts, compared to today's standard. Hence why the orange peel was removed a fair amount. You could see what you think of it of the gun, after the blue is on. Looks like a really nice job to, seems like he's a good spray painter i think. Very nice to see a good job done like new. Gary.

There's more benifts than the durability to me using the 2 pack. But the down side is that you really need to mask off tightly everywhere. Always easier with 2 people masking a whole car i think. & 2 of the reasons this car looks so good especially the black jams, is firstly he's a good painter & secondly he took the time, to get the sheen level so accurate, that takes time and skill, but it makes the job turn out great. I would be happy with those results on my restoration. Gary.

Got the car home today and started to put a bit of the inside back together, mirror, sun visors and suchc1a5ffdea161a445ad0e214cb6933a79.jpg
Tried a wheel on, should look OK I think when all the weight goes on. Have lowered springs to go in as well

I wish all stereos still had them. I have just installed the latest Pioneer touch screen so I have Carplay, but the inbuilt (electronic) equalizer does a rubbish job.

Hi Dave, I'm really impressed with the finish of your paint in the engine bay and body. Have fun putting her back together.

Still chasing a couple of tongues for the seatbelts

Are the buckles the early type like '74 LH, or did they change to the LX type sometime in 1975?
