When I drove over in the early 90's to pick up the L34 from Lismore, my wife and I arrived at Tenterfield at midnight and set up a tent to get some sleep. I have never since been so bloody cold. We had all of our clothes on and two sleeping bags, but at 4am we ended up getting back in the car and kept driving just to get warm. Heading down the hill from there to Casino, one of my ears wouldn't pop and by the time we got to the bottom I couldn't even drive. I thought my head was going to explode. It took hours to settle down.

So I didn't see much of Casino.

Did you get those fuel tank straps re-galvanised or did they come up that good after a scrub?

No just gave them a soak in white vinegar and then some kero in a can degreaser to clean the muck off

Top job Dave. I have enjoyed reading your restoration thread. Fantastic to see a Gpak saved from the V8 and flares.

Love it. Be proud of your hard work and enjoy driving it every chance you get.

Cheers

Dave.

Finally got the Gpak sorted! A leaking main seal after it’s maiden voyage months ago. Didn’t feel like ripping the engine out and risking damaging paintwork, so got it out to a mate who has a chain block above his hoist and did it that way

God I love GPaks!

Haha I much prefer the Hotwires rather than those modern things, too.

Are you going to lower it?

Yeah, that's the lowest you can buy off the shelf (for the front anyway). Always need to cut them to a shorter length to get them sitting right.

How many k's have you put on the old girl so far? :)

Only put a couple of hundred k's so far. It sat in the shed for months after it started leaking oil and I only fixed it two weeks ago.

Hi Dave,

Car looks great, well done getting it sealed up.
What size are the Hotwires? Are they originals?
Which brand?

Cheers, Tom
