I can't really get a good idea of the shape of the Spring in the manual.

Paul, that lever return spring you are thinking of buying suits the HK (and HT/HG?). The HK shifter parts are not the same as those used in the LC Torana.

The Torana uses one return spring the HK uses two springs.

Yep definitely different Dave,I've never seen a spring for a LC Opel gearbox shifter, but even if someone could send me a pic of one ,then I'd know what I was looking for ,I think it may look similar to this.

Looking at the drawing of the return spring in the LC workshop manual I reckon the spring looks more like this.

Yeah you're right ,more of a hook than a loop,I think these would have broken often ,or flung off onto the road.Anyone have a pic of an original please?

Hi Indy Orange, did you end up sourcing the Opel shifter return spring? I’m chasing one for my LC Opel box and haven’t been able to track one down.

I’ve seen the pics above but was hoping for a picture of the spring itself to see if I can find something that might match as I haven’t found any original or aftermarket ones for sale.

Does any one have the length of the spring as well as the thickness of metal and the diameter of the wound coil section ?
