Go for it.
90 days driving wherever you want doing whatever you like for $137 per year plus your car club membership - $50 if you join the ASRF.

Full reg now $815... Only useful if driving more than 90 days per annum.

You will need engineers and RWC for either for your car.

Best thing I ever did with my Torana. Was shattered to lose my custom plates initially, but got over that really quickly. Now I smile every time the annual renewal notice arrives. My LX started on a H plate, but then when M plates were introduced I switched over.

We also have an EH (the missus' car) - so that's on CPS plates too - on a H plate. My smile gets even wider when that rego arrives. It's money in the bank.

Realistically, most people with "weekend" cars - won't even use 90 days. We both chose the 45 day option which costs about $77 a year. Worst case if we hit that limit early, we can simply purchase another 45 days. Our insurance also dropped significantly, so the savings actually go a lot deeper. I pay $40 for club membership.

I did the maths a few years ago and worked out that I'm saving around $18,000 every decade. For me it was a no-brainer to embrace CPS (raising 3 kids, single income etc etc - money is tight!).

I was going to go full rego on mine when the time comes but now leaning towards M plates.  My only reservation is, what club to go with as I have heard some now have some restrictive requirements and I'm not the type that will want to attend every meeting/function.  Do your research in that regard. If you think about it 90 days equal ~ 1 day out of every 4 days you can drive it.  I don't always drive my daily driver that often.  Cheers Ron

Yeah the club im in doesn't require you to attend any functions and my rwc guy said that because its been on full reg with the mod plate makes it easier to go back to full reg should I need to

If it has been on full reg with the mods it has now then i have been given advice it is still eligible for the H plate scheme.

If a car has period correct mods and can pass a general RWC, then all is good and H plates are the order of they day.

If the mods are more extreme and warrant having an engineers report (VASS certificate), then it's M plates (think non-factory engine upgrades etc).

I wish this was available in WA
