Hey everyone im ordering wheels for my torana soon and havnt found any info relating to unflared toranas so far. Im wanting 15x7 on the front and 15x8 on the rear and would like to know what back spacing has worked for people with similar setups.

What size tyres? I ran 15x7 with 205/50 on the front and 225/50 on the rear, the fronts were mm from hitting the lower edge of guard on full lock so couldn't imagine you getting any bigger. I still have the wheels and can measure the backspace

4.5 bs is probably the best if you run a standard width diff.

4.25 inch backspace on the front. Any more and you may run into contact with the upper ball joint (depending on type) with a 15 inch wheel.

I have 17 x 10 with 5 inch back space on the front, I think the 17 inch allows more ball joint a arm space. No clearance issues at all.

myss427, I'm guessing the difference is you are running with flares whereas Tony isn't.  I have 17 X 7 (with 4" bs from memory) on the front (unflared) but had to get the guards spread so no interference on full lock.  Cheers Ron

Still have the same space to the ball joint regardless, I'm discussing space inwards which has nothing to do with flares outwards, I'm just making it clear that with 17 inch wheels you can go inwards of 5 inches, maybe 5.5 without problems of clearance. Cheers Brett

Reading it again I just grasped what you were referring to, as in guard spreading, yes flares allows you to cut the bottoms off the guard, but your putting a flare back in place which goes back in to the same area, more so the back of the flare, front is a little different as the guard curls inwards in scrubs tyres. I found you still have to set camber and make sure you have clearanced the firewall for larger wheels no matter what, but have found the biggest issue is rolling diameter, anything larger than 625 on the front is the biggest issue.

Sorry Brett. You are correct about BS.  I get confused sometimes between BS and offset.  Cheers Ron

Yes, lots more backspace do able with a 17”” wheel.
I ran a 17 x 8.5 on the front of the hatch with 5.5 inch BS. Still lots of room.
