Is there supposed to be a positive wire in wiring harness to battery?

Positive wire in harness has the fusible link and connects to starter motor, which in turn connects to battery by a much thicker cable.

If you have any negative feedback please keep it to yourselves.:)

As per Spack's comment.

I'll try and insulate myself from other comments, as currently, I am energised by making connections with others.

Well, I must say, it's been a while since I have read a thread that is generating so many alternating thoughts. I feel I have become polarized and drained, so much so that I want to lay down in a field, coil up and recharge in the solar rays.

To answer Chris's question, there is no positive wire from the harness directly to the battery.

Firstly it depends what series of Torana we are talking, because there are differences in LC/LJ if you have GTR/Sports instruments.

The main battery lead (the thick one) goes directly the starter motor & in most cases the harness positive supply to the dash etc. is connected to this same junction point. On some models there is a thinner (usually red) wire which runs from the battery post to the alternator.

Before I go any further, what model series are we talking about & why the question ?

Dave, we're not to mention the "polarizer" remember !

As Dr Terry says above, there are a few possibilities.

For LC/LJ 6 cylinder there are two types of positive battery lead possible - 7416627 for cars with an ammeter, and 2806977 for cars without. (There is also a third one, but only for late LJ XU1).

LC/LJ without an ammeter have a 6 gauge black wire (the thick one) and a 12 gauge red wire (the thin one) moulded into the battery terminal, The black goes to the starter solenoid and the red to the alternator output terminal.

LC/LJ with an ammeter do not have the 12 gauge wire in the battery terminal, only the black.

It's hard to be positive about the options for 4 cylinder LC/LJ, so I'll ignore them.

For LH/LX 4, 6 and 8 cylinder all the positive battery cables have the thin red and the thick black cable moulded into the battery terminal.

12v Positive feed wire in ALL harnesses have a fusible link and connect to the starter motor.

No main power feed wire in any wiring harness in any model Torana connects directly to the battery.
