Hi all. I'm just wondering what the function of the bonnet lacing is. It doesn't go all the way across so can't be for sealing. Only thing i could think of is whether it may assist with vibration of the bonnet but I'm no expert. I'm thinking of running my washer hose through it to keep it looking a bit neater. Cheers Ron

I'm guessing it's there to prevent all the oil, water and bits of debris from covering the windscreen and obscuring your vision when you blow up your 308 at 5,501rpm.

Haha, I wish I had the motor in it. I wasn't thinking about the other direction but that makes sense. Cheers Ron

Could it also reduce hot air getting into the plenum vent to stop the interior getting too hot ?

Just reading through some old threads and one suggestion, that also makes sense, is they stop any water running onto the wiper motor and the heater box. Also as Dave said, to prevent spray up on the windscreen if you have a hose fail. Multi functional piece of rubber.
Also just looking at some pics on google and some cars have the lacing running the full width of the bonnet and others only really covering the middle section. Some of these cars are modified so not sure if original but tend to think they may be. I need to check my lacing (Rarespares) but pretty sure it doesn't cover the full width. So begs another question for those more knowledgeable. Cheers Ron

Thanks Brad. Just checked my Rarespares one and it is about 6" short of covering the width of the cowling. Appears they only make one sort to cover a number of models. Now I'm short one end! The story of my life LOL. Cheers Ron

The more functions that are flagged, the more I think it would be better running the full width. Cheers Ron
