Hi all,

I’m getting ready to put triples on my LC so thought a Wideband AFR kit might help with tuning them.
I’m after recommendations for a Wideband AFR kit that is in the $200 - 300 range.

I have been looking at AEM and Innovate. Is there any reason to go one over the other?
Any tips and tricks would also be appreciated.

Thanks

I used to use the Innovate lm-2 which was problematic with multiple faults. Perhaps the Innovate AFR gauges are more reliable than the lm-2's, but I have no experience with the gauges myself so I can't really say.

I upgraded to the AEM FAIL-SAFE wideband gauge which so far I'm very happy with. I know that this gauge is above your stated price range but if AEM's cheaper gauges function as well as my gauge then you should be happy with one.

Another interesting option is the PLX Device's AFR gauge. If this had of had a recording function and appropriate software then it would have been a real consideration.

Personally I really value the recording function so that whilst driving I can concentrate on the road and not the gauge.

I've been using Innovate gear for 14 years, nothing to complain about.

I have been quite happy with my AEM setup.

Im happy with my innovate LM2- Ive had the occasional fault code, but it was when the sensor plug was not seating correctly, I re-inserted and it worked fine again.

BUT, if I was to do it again, i'd consider a more permanent gauge rather than the LM2- JD has a nice unit.  the LM2 takes up a fair bit of space and gets annoying.

Thanks for the recommendations.

Is JD a user or a supplier? I can't find them on Google.

I'm a forum member. But I can supply one too if you'd like.

By the way what type of triple carbs are you planning to be running and tuning?

Hi JD,
I have a set of 1 3/4 SU's I'll be putting on over winter.
I'm not planning on putting her down the strip, so dont think I'd need logging but, if it makes life easier, it might be handy to have?

I find logging handy- but there are other ways you can do it. I cant remember why but at one stage I setup a gopro to film what I was doing so I could replay the visual AFR along with my rpm from tach... I think my rpm sense wire stopped working and I just wanted to get on with it so setup a small camera to film me and the gauges.

So no, its not needed as such but it certainly is a good feature to have.

There are a lot of members here who can help guide you through the triple SUs if you need the help (when you get to it).
