I think lots of colours have varied from the original over the years ,my car is Indy Orange and I've got the right code ,but I think it may be slightly different ,don't really know why that is even with the correct code.

Some paints, don't have as much $$ spent on the formulation quality, other dearer brands or popular colours do. + the missing lead content can make a difference too. What brand of paint is it ?

How metallic paints are applied also affects how the colour looks.

If you apply in the old fashioned way, you get the more accurate results. You're correct there Dave ! Even with the newer styles of paint, you just get a nicer particle lay out. The main painter i learnt from, is about 60 now & did laces & candy's a bit in the 70's so he was good at laying them out. We just learnt to copy him.

So can the under coat colour.

geez...the bit behind the sticker looks like Plumdinger and the bonnet pic looks like Chateau Mauve?

Chateau ? I would say more like ultra violet.

Do a proper spray out, factory coloured primer ect & check it edge to edge under the boot lid, more more accurate.

Much more, bloody spell check

paint is acrylic, called Lucite from Crash supplies

didn't think it cheap, over $300 for 4 litres

I used grey 2pack primer, though factory would be red oxide type I suppose

it just seems pale like not enough of a tint or one missing

the rep is coming to look next time he's in area

paint guy dropped in today, had 40 year old colour cards, well worn

his card for royal plum match for my pic of bit under sticker

also I have taken off the rubber side strips and paint underneath matched colour card

so he's taken my paint and going to adjust

needs violet and red he said

so I get the darker colour and I'm happy
