Given that DLX062243M isn't police issued then either Holden stuffed up or sometimes pulling a shifty and the story is that supposedly one of the cars had a reissued number....

Does he mean that maybe the VIN plate for DLX062243M ended up on another car and he's mixing up his chassis and VIN numbers?

Sounds to me like old mate had his car stolen and found later minus tags and returned to him so the numbers wouldn't be listed as stolen. His car was reregoed back then with a police issued number. In the mean time someone has restamped another car using his tags that were stolen off his car. Now he's found out his tags are one a registered car in qld.

The identifier for the car is the chassis number, so if it came back with no tags but assuming it still had the chassis number there is no reason for a police number to be issued, they would be stamping a police number over an official genuine chassis number, no reason to do this.

Most likely the thieves had removed the tags and tampered with the original chassis number in an attempt to conceal the vehicles identity.
Hence the new police issued chassis number.

The guy says "my car was issued with a modified chassy number that has been clarified, the qld torana has used that number too linked to rego!"
LXT78 (the suspect car) is registered with chassis number DLX062243M.
He's saying this is the same as his one that was reissued by police. But police don't issue numbers in the same format as Holden did.
How do both cars have DLX062243M as a chassis number if one of the cars has a reissued number?
Is the sus car rebirthed with his old chassis number but his car now has another number?
That Facebook post can't be telling the full story

Thing is he doesn't say the modified number was issued by Police however I think we can all read between the lines.
By modified he probably means his car now has a Police issue chassis number as well as the original number.
Clarified may mean some forensic detective work was required to bring out the original chassis number which was hard to read, hence a reason why the Police would issue a new number.

30 years ago could some predict how much cars would go up in value back then. Not saying re-birthing of cars has never happened, even the ones re-birthing cars could have never seen or knew the current values back in the day. All sounds a little suspicious.

Standard procedure back in the day. Nothing wrong, nothing illegal back then. It was the rebirthers that changed the rules/laws.

I own a Commodore with a police vin number. The ADR tag was removed and a new number stamped in shocker tower.
