This isn't a Torana specific question, but it is a Holden. What type of sealer do I use in the front corners of my HJ ute doors? The original caulking was rock hard, I imagine it should be somewhat flexible, but skin over the top.

Not sure what was original but mine was rock hard in the WB.  I just used some Selleys Kneadit steel repair and painted over it but I wasn't looking for a great finish, just something to seal it with. Cheers Ron

I would also like to know if the LC-LJ had any filler in that spot ? Cheers Paul.

I’ve been using Shelly’s butyl mastic as seam and window sealer. Forms skin and paintable but remains plastic. Used it between firewall and subframe on my FB. Bunnings paint isle. It’s the nearest thing I have found to the GMH window caulk, sadly no longer available.

Agree, pretty much the same as the GMH Flexomastic sealant.

I used Bostik black windscreen sealant for most of my assembly sealing needs.

It's external, the front corner of the front doors.

Gary,

The little infill piece in the bottom front corner of the door window opening. It forms the top of the forward door glass run channel. HQ's didn't have them but HJ - WB did.

Similar but not the same as the little black triangular metal piece at the bottom corner of the LC/LJ front 1/4 windows.

Instead HQ's had that little triangle piece at the top front corner of the window frame to 'catch' the glass and guide it back into the bailey channel just before it reached the top...

I used the Selleys mastic on the infill panels in the tub of the ute.  Particularly around the corner pieces behind the tail lights so I can get at them in the future if need be.

Don't use the kneadit as I did on the window corner section. Just had a look and showing signs of small cracks.  Cheers Ron

I've been using this stuff for various parts, but not sure if it will stay too soft for the parts above.

If you want it hard, but flexible, automotive sikaflex, you can put it in to a tapped edge & smoothen it just like a silcone bathroom product ect. If you want it just slightly tacky, the mastic, I've used either the d mastic or soudal ect, fairly cheap. & pretty easy to do, Gary.
