I hate it when you guy's give me answers that are not what I want to here.

You guy's cause me more grief than when I had a wife.

Just for once can't you guy's bull$hit to me, and tell me it will all be fine, go ahead and do it your way.

Kindest Regards Mando.

Yes dear, whatever you say dear. It will all be fine, go ahead and do it your way. :D

But seriously, if getting an exhaust made, I'd suggest having a bung welded in both sides and just plug up the one you don't use.

That way it's easy to add a second oxygen sensor later if your tuner changes his mind!

Most of early Ls had two 02 sensors..not necessary if aftermarket ecu but still damn handy if want to fit a/f gauge or swap banks to check all is kosher.

As above stated want slipons sealed so it doesn't fudge 02 readings.

Thanks guy's,

thats a brilliant idea.

I'll install two bungs on the cats but use only one O2 sensor and add another one if necessary.

This is like being married again.

Regards Mando.

You could possibly tune it in one side, then swap it to the other side and see if there's any significant difference?

Not every system would have an input for two O2 sensors.

I didn't know that would even be possible, thanks for the tip.

I'll point it out to the tuner when the time comes.

Hi Guy's,

can anyone let me know where the bump stops go on the diff of an LX please?

There is a flat section on the body with 3 or four screw holes directly above the diff housing.

Is this for some type of bump stop, and if not what's it for?

Regards Mando.

The bump stops are inside each coil spring (No. 7 on the following diagram)...

LX-Rear-Suspension.jpg

If you're talking about a mounting plate in the centre of the car above the diff pinion then I'd guess it's for the illusive pinion bumper (see "A" inset above, item No 14).

EDIT: Also see this thread: http://www.gmh-toran...rana-diff-bump/

Thanks Andrew,

I'll see if Rare Spares sell the number 7 bump stops.

Being a different diff setup, I reckon it would be hit and miss to get

the rubber the right length to make it work properly.

It's quite likely you can source the third "A" bump stop and trim it down if needed, to suit the nose area of your diff pumpkin. I may even have one spare... but I would need to check that out.

There should be a piece of sheetmetal with two captive nuts in it, to secure that bump stop.

Attached File  2016-04-10 13.04.12.jpg   365.65K   19 downloads

Nothing with 3-4 holes that I have ever seen.

The normal bump stops can be sourced from Superpro apparently:

https://www.ebay.com...GIAAOSw9fFf83oz

Or you can get your hands on an original pair and cut them down etc.

Thank's Heath,

I've ordered a couple of the blue bump stops.

Thank's for the offer to look for the bump stop on the metal plate.

I'll take a look through my left over pile and see if I have one for the [diff pumpkin] as you describe it.

I took a look at my body and I do have three holes. Two are threaded, for the bumper stop and the other is just a hole.

Regards Mando.

Hi Laurie,

one of my plate has January 78 on it and the other plate has LX8UH77 on it.

It started life as a 4or 6 cylinder SL as far as I know.

It was first purchased in September 1978.

Regards Mando.

4 cylinder LX Sunbudgie. It is now becoming the automotive equivalent to The Six Million Dollar Man.

Very clean build, loving it. Can you please share what accessory drive kit you have on the front of your engine?

Cheers

Thanks for that mate, did you buy direct from Drive Junky or through anyone local? I hadn't heard of them before but I prefer it to the Holley offering, especially the the balancer.

I bought it directly from Drive Junky and they shipped it to Long Beach where it was loaded into a container with a hundred other parts bought from  all over the states,

and then shipped to Adelaide by a guy that brings over Mustang cars and parts.

He charged me a flat rate for as many parts I could get to his shipping yard.

The guy I dealt with at Drive Junky was fantastic, and the quality of everything supplied including the machined brackets was first rate.

The list was long but some of the parts sent over were

crate motor

valley cover

rocker covers

engine manifold

handbrake cables

radiator

thermo fans

fuel filters

air cleaner

and a heap more.

Regards Mando.

G'day Mando, was that Jeff or someone else who shipped your parts?

And does he ship to other cities as well (Sydney for example)?

If our exchange rate keeps going up I may need to bring over one of those 'crates' myself. :D

Hi Andrew,

I think he only did it to fill up containers coming to Adelaide but give him a call, you never know.

Looks great Mando, well done on the progress. I like that floor reflection in the shiny mufflers.

Did that Dellows cross member come with the holes drilled for the gearbox mount? On their website they look blank in the middle

Cheers, Tom

That exhaust is pure car porn!

So close now... I bet you can't wait to get out and drive it.

Wow that looks fantastic, may I ask where u got your drop tank from? It looks very compact and clean. Look forward to seeing a pic on the road. Cheers.

Thanks guy's,

Tom, the crossmember had holes in place for the gearbox, but they needed to be slotted sideways.

Brad the tank came from Brown Davis. They did a fantastic job. The welding is amazing.

The tank is 90 litres and not 120 litres as you would see on the Bathurst cars.

The 120 litre tank hangs down to low to get past registration.

Andrew, I can't see this thing on the road for ages.

The biggest hurdle for me is getting the air conditioning plumbed up and getting the computer setup for the LS3,

and having to pass the car through registration, in what we call Regency Park.

Regards Mando.
