Hi Ladies and Gents,

I’m installing speakers in the front doors of my LX, does anyone know of a neat way to pass the speaker wire between the car body and door? E.g some kind of conduit or something to cover the wires so it looks tidy?

Cheers,
Meg :)

Hi Meg, my WB (and I think it's common for the H series cars, has a concertina type rubber grommet that goes from the body to the door. It's most probably a bit big for what you want but maybe something like that.  I used them just to seal the holes in the WB.  Cheers Ron

Look at possibly fitting something from a more modern car.

The VT Commodore is a good easily looked at example.

The problem with a straight through connection will always be the wires bending in strange ways, or you need a solution where they will push hrough.

The pic above of the braided solution looks to do this.

The  modern cars have a more vertical displacement. One hole is significantly higher than the other.

The wires only need to twist a little to do what is needed.

Unless you use really fine multi stranded wire, breaking due to distortion will end up being an issue.

512 strands of really fine wire as opposed to 30 strands or less in a lot of wires.

Probably not an issue for something that doesnt get driven very much.

But it can be a real pain replacing stuff when it breaks, when a better solution could have been done in the first place.

Don’t suppose you would consider jamb tacks? Obvious shortcoming is the speakers won’t work when the doors are open. Anyone used these?
