Hi all,

For starters the car is an LJ sl converted to GTR type dash.

Turn ignition on and get no red light

start the car and have no gauges working including tacho

rev the car and all gauges start working but red (alt) light comes on solid

Tried the idea of unplugging brown wire at alternator and i get no red light on with ignition on which i believe means alternator is okay.

All other dash lights working okay so i am assuming its all earthing okay, any ideas?

TIA, Gary

might be obvious but have you checked the instrument fuse?

some times the fused just needs to be moved in the holder if it's not blown

if car sits for long periods

limo, thanks for the advice.

A quick check of fuses showed the fuse marked "tell tales  backup" was a bit corroded and not connecting properly.

Im not sure how but now working fine. Thanks again for the help.
