No pics of it off the car.  I haven't got the engineering drawings either.

This one is correct.

Is the SS hatch and A9X spoiler the same ? Parts book seems to indicate that. Not sure

SS doesn't have a rear spoiler.

I like that photo that you put up Andrew. It's a shame Holden didn't do it that way.

I need to get a bit more inventive with my photography Craig. You seem to get nice and close and get all angles where I tend to step back and shoot the whole car.

Ok so there is just one factory hatch spoiler that GMH produced (or got produced) and that was for the A9X?

SS doesn't have a rear spoiler.

Yes that is correct. The only other cars to get them were if Joe Public ordered his new Torana with the dealer fitted option of the factory body kit. This included the A9X flares as well if they wanted them.

And then the lowest skilled person in the workshop would grab a grinder and big hammer and absolutely desecrate the guards to their best ability and bolt on bits of fibreglass to cover the mess !!!  :D  :D  :D

Ill check mine tomorrow. Its been on the car over 30 years and has 8 internal bolts plus I can see metal brackets glassed into the main body but not not sure if its genuine. Ive always wanted to take it off and have a look underneath.

Ok nice but after you take it off how will you know if it’s a real one? But being 30 years old you would think there is a pretty good chance it’s a factory one.

There were only 100 road-going A9X hatchbacks plus a handful of GMP&A hatches produced for racing, meaning there was probably only 150-odd "real ones" ever made, and you'd have to assume that maybe a quarter of them have been destroyed over the last 40 years?

A large portion of the dealer-fitted rear spoilers (and indeed most flares and other bolt-ons) from back in the day actually came from G&S Motor Bodies in Sydney, their stuff was really good quality but they closed down many years ago now. It'd be a good bet that most of the molds now used by other companies were likely taken from G&S products rather than "real ones".

I'd say at best the one fitted to mine might be a genuine GMH spare part. I do know that the one that is still fitted to my first hatchback that I sold in the 1990,s and is now owned by a forum member is a genuine GMH spare part purchased through Motors Hobart as the empty box with the GMH parts label sat under my parents house for years after until we had a clean up and turfed it.

Well I took off my rear spoiler today. Cant say if it is original GMH or not but it seems very well built. Was a good opportunity to clean some 30 year old dirt from underneath it.

There was a little bit of swearing when putting it back on trying to get my fat fingers in those little spots to get the nuts back on.

You spoiler certainly fits in with the parts diagram above so that part fits in for it to be a genuine GMH part.
