Just for clarification HB, LC, LJ, TA are the SERIES of vehicle.

FYI the biggest engine fitted to an LJ 4dr sedan was the optional 202 in 1973.

Good luck with the project.

Technically speaking, yes. However under the parlance of the RMS they are referred to as 'models'. God bless our inefficient system!

Ah yes, the 202. No idea why I wrote 186 above, I'll change that. Probably thinking about the balanced and ported 186 I helped a mate drag out of a shed the other day.

Cheers mate, I'll be sure to start a project log - boingk

No need to apologise Boingk. It's because I have read the NCOP and spoken to an engineer that I make these distinctions. Yes I have a 4cyl LC that I am putting another engine in. My engineer is happy with my design plan and has seen my car. I know the differences between 4cyl and 6cyl cars too. There's a really nice 4cyl LC that will probably be at Toranafest this year with a Commodore V6 in it, probably a good person to talk to.

Apologies if I've come off like I've had my feathers ruffled, just trying to lay out some straight information which may be of use to others... and primarily myself at this point in time.

Boingk? You are not presenting any new straight information. But please come back.

Don't worry, I'm not getting scared off. I'm happy to see what others have done and hear their experiences, it gives me a playing field to work with. There's no good me expecting result A if I'm only ever going to get result B, but at the moment it looks like I might be able to do what I'm after.

Plus, with 253, 308, 355 and LS1/2/3/7's being put in all manner of smaller cars for shits and giggles I think I'll be right with the lowly Commo V6.

Plenty of V6 Gemini's been done (I fitted one with an ecotec once upon a time), I would imagine the process would be similar for 4 banger toranas...
