How do I remove the steering pins from the shaft. I've been belting the shit out of them with a hammer but they aren't moving. 3aaf07662dd6cce67c10774e6109edb0.jpg

Something like this overpriced tool will certainly help.

I made a tool similar to the one pictured on Ebay.

Basically some 10mm flat bar (may have been 12mm) cut 2 tabs and welded them on to create the "C" shape, Drill a oversize hole in the bottom, drilled and tapped the top hole. Worked a treat

I've used one of these with washers to remove cotter pins before and didn't work too bad.

G Clamp and a 3/8" drive socket. Socket over the end opposite the thread, and squeeze it together, maybe give it a tap to help it once you have pressure on it.

Sometimes you can look at them & they just fall out. Usually not though.

You need to support them while flogging otherwise you will stuff the lower bearing in the column.

A 3-4" G clamp & small socket to press the pin out.
