Hi all, I have an LH with a 383 sbc. The issue I am having is a loss of oil pressure when decelerating. This engine has just been run in and wasn't doing this prior to the rebuild. The gauge was verified against a mechanical gauge and proves accurate. Any advice would be appreciated. TIA

Loose oil pickup? Should have been fixed in place with a solid bracket off one of the mounting bolts, see 16min into video. Do you have any baffles or windage tray?

Did you change the sump or oil pickup or the dipstick during the build? Could the oil level be too low even if the dipstick says it's okay?
When you say decelerating, do you mean heavy braking or just under engine braking? Does it make a difference if going uphill, downhill or level?

Add a litre of oil and see if the issue persists.
I used to have this problem in the 383 Holden when I drove it hard in the old sedan. After a couple of hard blasts up through the gears a big dig on the brakes would bring the oil pressure warning light on briefly. Solved by running a little extra in the HE sump.
Izzy from COME reckons this used to occur not infrequently in the yellow Torana at the end of the strip.

No mate same sump and dip stick combo. Just braking in general. But the harder the braking the quicker the pressure drop. Incline and decline whilst driving has no effect.

Engine/body earths good?Just braking in general. But the harder the braking the quicker the pressure drop.
