I have for the last year, needed to know if this Road Rule would piss you off. Because it does me.

Driving from home to one of the local towns, they have built a race horse training facility along this road. This has been up to then an 80kh section of road.

For about Approx 4 kays of this road there are now signs stating 60kh due to horse training area. Racing Trotters is to me for Gambling. Breaking families apart like all the other gambling.

These signs are 24/7. There all in bed at Two in the morning and we still have to slow down. We shouldn't have to slow down at all ffs. Build a frocken bridge or some horse traffic lights.

What's  your thought ?

Ray

They need a 60kmh Horsey School Zone with flashing lights etc etc for two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening. Problem solved.

As a former track work rider, there could be riders on the road at 2am in the morning.

Obscure rules, straight from the QLD DOT site.

Vehicle drivers must stop at the side of the road and turn off their motor if a horse rider signals that their horse is jumpy or agitated. The horse rider can signal to the driver by raising a hand and pointing to the horse. The driver must not move the vehicle until the noise of the motor, or the movement of the vehicle, won’t aggravate the horse.

Way back when I had done that a few times while riding racehorses around Bundall and Benowa. It was a bit of the thrill racing a car. :/

Hard pill to swallow for me. I could only imagine what it would be like for someone from a broken family due to gambling.

Ok, I just shot out tonight to the local woollies. 100kh section of road with workmen ahead 40kh signs left out. On the way there (no probs) on the way back there were 3 cars doing the 40kh. So I indicated and past them. There were no workers, just lazy stupid pric%$ not covering the signs for the long weekend. Was I in the wrong ?

Bloody horses, someone should blow 'em up!

(sorry, been watching too much Kingswood Country lately)

We used to do the same thing on the river with the ski boat... cars never stood a chance!

You got lucky.

Yep, if the signs are displayed then the limit is enforceable, doesn't matter whether the workers left them uncovered accidentally, or if it's a deserted road at 2 in the AM, or if some passing drunk (or mischievous copper) uncovered them.

Some speed restrictions may be left in place overnight because of prevailing road conditions too, IE. if I was crawling through roadworks in my freshly painted Torana and you came screaming past at 100km/h spraying rocks and tar up everywhere... well, I reckon I wouldn't be too happy about it!

My mrs was traveling on a newly resurfaced section of the Gateway Arterial road the other morning. Normally a 100kmh zone, reduced to 80 for the roadworks. She was sitting on 80 and most drivers were flying past her.

Cops could have made a motza with a camera van.

I think you need to try some meditation and yoga.

It's really not an issue, drive slow or find another route.

Well I will take this one on the chin. From now on I will slow down. Free flowing traffic is a thing of the past. These signs were left uncovered by lazy council frocks. The road work was not even on this road, they were two side roads. But as you have all said " its still law". I know as a person, I would have told the workers to cover the signs out of respect. Its not hard. I think I need a helicopter and a shit load of yogurt.

Seriously, is it not 31 klm over the speed limit, on the spot loss of license for 3 months now ? Pretty sure you'll find it is, at least here in Qld.

Hey Members, as stated I will change my ways. I have not had a speeding fine in over 15 years. For five of these years I owned a Hayabusa. Ray

Thanks to this forum discussion, I realize my attitude had to change. I will obey the road rules and no longer be a danger to other road users. This is why we have discussion, voice how we feel. Doesn't mean right or wrong. Looking for answers. I found my attitude needed to change. For the persons who voiced there concern, you are the reason I have questioned myself. You are the reason I realized my attitude was a hazard to other road users / myself / My passengers. Up to date, I have never hurt another road user due to my driving. We can always improve and now I have. Ray

It is immoral to put others or your self at unnecessary risk of injury, physical, psychological or financial.

A competent driver will assess the situation and drive accordingly. If they get pinged on the technicality, so if it’s safe to drive at normal speed but the law is prosecuted, then they haven’t assessed the financial risk accurately.

There are plenty of bad laws, but then there are also plenty of incompetent drivers.

I learned years ago that I couldn't afford the speeding fines (single Dad, 3 teens.
