I suppose the hard part is, they affect people in different ways. That's hard to police. You could only work from the worst case scenario . Ray

I know of at least 1 person just had a big smoking session for a couple of hours and then got pulled over and tested and was clear and drove off.
There is so much inconsistant data when you look at guidelines from transport nsw compared with what my work states in their policy. I decided torun my own tests so i knew the safe limit to work to. I take issue with workplaces and laws that try to tell people how to live their lives.
I guess it is hard to collect accurate data as people who fail the test always deny they have taken anything for days and those who are marginal and pass keep their mouth shut completely.
Anyway i was quitr surprised with the results and was hoping for a more definitive answer.
Piss tests gave very accurate and repeatable results.
I was more concerned with being fine for work on a morning as it is more important to me to keep my job. I was curious how my work could state the witholding period was 2 times as long as the transport nsw recommendations and they are testing for thd same levels.
Then they also run around saying silly things like bagels with poppyseed and opiate painkillers and pseudoephedrine cold and flu tablets will test positive and you're in the shit. Pretty ordinary.

Poppy seeds gave a positive to urine tests at a mine I was working at.

2 guys.

1 employee

1 contractor.

Employee suspended until lab result came back.

Contractor banned from site forever.

Employee cleared by lab.

Contractor had no further opportunity to work there. No idea if his test was also a false.

Management informs everyone of the rules. Including no codeine. Even on prescription.

Urine tests would be difficult to do randomly.

If you have drugs in your system the law says dont drive,

Really simple.

Think about the 0.05 BAC limit.

I know some who would be a danger even at that level, and others who would be fine.

But a line must be drawn somewhere.

And stay on the legal side of it.

It probably does not matter all that much where they test , it is  probably just a "convenient" place to pull over drivers to test them rather than pull every car over on a main road , living in a small town we get to see this quite often and quite a few get done for illicit drugs and quite a few of them have children , it is the children that suffer.

One case comes to mind when a women dropped her children off to footy practice , dropped the kids off , went ripping back to town ,left the road and found a rather large gum tree in a river bed , wrote one side of the car off and the car  ended up facing back to where she had just come from , beats me how but she walked away from it ,, geared up she was , just as well no kids in the car , and alcohol is not much

different , when you witness how children suffer from piss tank mothers that have enough $ to buy booze and other shit but not enough $ to give the kid a feed it makes you cry.

Either way , it don't matter where they get tested , they will be on the road one way or the other and if they are pissed or stoned or both it is just a matter of time till they get tested.
