Hi all
I trying to dial in a cam shaft on my red 202 and my cam spaces are as follows
Cm205d which is @50 217/217 vlift 429 dyurotech
The cam card I got says
Valve timing @.05 " cam lift
Inlet -1 Btdc opens and closes 38 abdc.. duration 217/217
SAE Valve timing @.006"
Inlet 30 BTDC AND CLOSES 70 abdc 280/280 duration

When I'm dailing in the cam I'm using a pushrods and lifter with a dail gauge setup on the push rod ..
My question is should I be using the SAE spec to time the cam ?

I'd use the timing events at .006 to dial in the cam. I would then check the degrees at .050 just for a sanity check that the cam is ground as it was advertised.

the last time I set up a cam I just used the how to guide that came with it. Some recomend using the start of lift inlet no1 and I have also worked on the max lift point inlet no1, The cam's that I have had gave me the deg that the cam should reach Xx th lift. The vidio below is a how to from the comp cam us site. I have not watched the full thing but it may help.

make sure you are using a solid lifter when do this as you can get incorrect reading on hydraulic.

find actual TDC first then the rest should be straight forward
